If you were reading my words last year you may have come across one of my posts chronicling my 21-day fitness challenge.
My completion of this challenge was an excellent reminder to myself that I can, indeed, do anything I put my mind to. It was also a great reminder that I am NOT 17 anymore. A fact that I have accepted and come to terms with.
After my 21 day challenge I took a detour and attempted to get back on the right track a couple of weeks ago and last week I actually did. I got back on the horse, and started using the gym membership that I have been faithfully paying for 8 months, and ran (elliptical) and biked (resistance spin bike) a total of 6 miles and I just knew I was back in the game…until today…
Today I decided to try a group fitness class, and misguidedly thought I could just pick back up where I left off 13 years ago and I was sadly mistaken. I struggled through this class something terrible…think Aunt Viv at dance class (the first time). Clearly, my cardio routine had me all the way confused…because I genuinely thought that I was in better shape.
And for that, I don’t think I can ever trust another treadmill, elliptical, or stationary bike…because they lie.
My prayer on this journey (this go-round) is long-term consistency and I look forward to the day when I can prance and sashay a full 60 mins (without stopping)!
